HAPPY THOMOMYS THURSDAY!
Adult and baby Pocket Gopher
Thomomys Talpoides is the scientific name for a pocket gopher. They are relatively small in size (adults are about the size of a guinea pig and babies are the size of a hamster aprox.) They reside in the Northern America in dry plains environments. Pocket gophers are very territorial and aggressive to each other except during mating season ;) These furry critters have a bad rap because they are similar to moles in that they very much enjoy digging holes and borrowing into the ground. If you were to look up “Pocket gopher” on Youtube.com you will mainly find videos of “how to kill pocket gophers” and “pocket gopher traps” and young kids following around the scared little things with a video camera :(
